Mobile Monthly Contracts

Nov 02-306/365

After almost a decade with Verizon Wireless (I’ve been with ‘em twice), yours truly had decided to cut ties with them for a while.

Reason(s) being that my bill was literally astronomical, and I before my contract had expired, I was promised a free 1st generation Droid. I had at least another month or so left on my contract, and when the end of that month had come, the new Droid had come out, and I was hoping that I’d get my complimentary Droid.

I went to the VZW store in the suburbs [there are none in the city-and that does not count the store in Highland Park-a hamlet located in Detroit-nor the kiosk at the Renaissance Center downtown-gotta pay for parking just to get inside the joint], and I was hoping that I could get my droid, no dice!

They had gotten rid of the old droids right before my contract had ended, and to top that off, I was behind on my bill (which I eventually got caught up), so that was held against me despite the promise that was made to me that was broken.

I was not happy that afternoon…

So now, a new chapter has been written, Even though I didn’t get the Droid that I wanted so bad, I got with a new company (not the one I originally wanted, but one of its subsidiaries), NO contract (thank God for that), Unlimited calls, texts, webs, for a very reasonable price.

I would go back to VZW again, but I have to make a better income if I were to afford their services again not mention relocate to the suburbs (I’m considering that, too-the move, that is).

And to top it off, Boost Mobile, a subsidiary of Sprint Wireless has stores that are in the city and outside the city. So that’s less gas being burned as well!

I hope to switch over to Sprint within the next year or so. Reason being is that with my job, I get discounts-esp. on my monthly bill! But for now, the unlimited for 50 bucks will do.

Can't wait until contracts start running out at AT&T so we can see how many people start switching without penalty. I'm sure AT&T is hoping the T-Mobile merger will go through before that happens. by standards_guy (124 comments ) July 28, 2011 12:31 PM

Hi, I am on a T Mobile monthly contract. Any one know any tricks so that my international texts and calls come out of my monthly allowance, rather than show up as separate ‘unbilled’ charges?
